On November 2, the Shandong Provincial Finals (Higher Vocational Group) of the 2024 "FLTRP · ETIC Cup" "Understanding Contemporary China" National College Students' Foreign Language Proficiency Speech Contest was held in Jinan, attracting over one hundred contestants from various vocational colleges across the province. The competition was exceptionally fierce, and Zhang Yana, a student majoring in Applied English at the School of Culture and Tourism of our university, stood out from numerous contestants and won the Gold Award under the meticulous guidance of her instructor, Song Xin.
This contest aimed to enhance young students' understanding and recognition of contemporary China's socio-economic development achievements and improve their intercultural communication skills through themed speeches, impromptu speeches, and on-site Q&A sessions. As a high-level foreign language competition, the "FLTRP · ETIC Cup" enjoys a great reputation nationwide and is one of the important platforms to test college students' foreign language proficiency.
Winning this award reflects our university's persistence and efforts in talent cultivation and foreign language teaching, highlights the effectiveness of the School of Culture and Tourism in cultivating applied foreign language talents, and inspires students to carry forward the competitive spirit and face future opportunities and challenges with a new look.
