The school of architectural engineering is one of the earliest backbone teaching departments in Shandong Business Institute. In 1976, the school established the specialty of Warehouse Factory Construction and Management, which was later renamed the specialty of Architectural Engineering Management. In 2010, in order to meet the needs of the construction and development of Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and meet the needs of urban-rural integration for architectural professionals, the Department of architectural engineering was established, which is now renamed the School of Architectural Engineering. The school currently has four specialties: Construction Engineering Technology, Engineering Cost, Construction Decoration Engineering Technology and Information Management of Construction Projects, with nearly 1800 students in campus.
The school of architectural engineering has continuously attracted high-level and high-quality talents and enterprise experts into the teaching team. It has built a “double qualified” teaching team with outstanding knowledge, outstanding practical ability and rich teaching experience. The school currently has more than 60 full-time and part-time teachers, more than 70% of them have master's degree or above, more than half of them have professional qualification certificates. In recent years, the school of architectural engineering has won one first prize for outstanding scientific research achievements of colleges in Shandong Province, 12 provincial-level topics, 2 provincial-level high-quality resource sharing courses, a number of national and provincial survey and design awards, and more than 30 patents.
The school of architectural engineering currently has more than 6000 square meters of experimental and training venues. There are 14 training rooms, including the “One-stop Experience Hall of Prefabricated Buildings”, “Project Quality Model Base”, “BIM Construction Decoration Technology Application Training Room”, “Engineering Measurement Training Room”, “Construction Decoration Structure Training Room”, “VR Virtual Experience Room”, and “Creative Design Training Room”.
The school of architectural engineering attaches great importance to teaching research and talent cultivation. In recent years, students have made proud achievements in many competitions: 2 first prizes, 3 second prizes and 3 third prizes in Shandong Vocational College Vocational skills competition; two-time champions, 4 first prizes and 4 second prizes in National BIM competition; 1 special prize and 1 second prize in the BIM Architectural Decoration Technology Application Competition in Shandong Province.
The school of architectural engineering has always adhered to cultivate people with morality, adhered to reform and innovation, and strived to cultivate socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor for the party and the country.
