The School of Art and Design has four specialized majors in Environmental Art Design, Advertising Art Design, Animation Production Technology and Visual Communication Design. Now, the school has 1452 students. After years of construction and development, the school has gradually become an important art design talent training base serving the regional creative industries. It has successively won the "Director Unit of University Branch of Yantai Architectural Decoration Association", "Advanced Unit of Yantai Advertising Association", "Film and Television Art Talent Training Base of Yantai Filmmakers Association" and "Talent Training Base of 1861 Creative Industry Park".
The school has 32 full-time teachers and 26 part-time teachers. Among full-time teachers, 80% of them have a master's degree or above, and 75% of them are dual qualified teachers. Teachers have been approved of 1 humanities and social science project of the Ministry of education, 16 provincial-level key art projects, 2 provincial-level high-quality resource sharing courses, 1 first prize of scientific research achievement in Shandong province, 2 second prizes of Yantai scientific research achievement award, 14 horizontal projects, 40 patents and 55 papers, including 6 CSSCI.
The school has currently 67 off-campus training bases. At present, the school's "Element Studio, Creative Studio, Guanghui Creative Studio and New Vision Art Creation Studio" has become an educational platform for "integration of production, study and research" under the enterprise responsibility system. According to the statistics of employment data over the years, the employment rate of graduates of the school of art and design has reached more than 98%.
The school of art and design aims to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents. The students won five first prizes in the National College Digital Art Design Competition, three second prizes in the National College Advertising Art Competition, three first prizes in the New Media Art Competition in Shandong Province, three gold prizes in the Creative Cup Art Design Competition in Shandong Province, three first prizes in the National Marine Culture Creative Design Competition for College Students, one first prize in the Qilu International Animation Game Competition.
Facing the new development opportunities and challenges, the school of art and design will continue to take professional construction as the leader and strengthen the connotation construction of the school.
