From October 27th to November 4th, 2024, a cultural exchange feast crossing mountains and seas was held at the College of Cultural Tourism. Four foreign friends from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, along with teachers from the Tourism Management Teaching and Research Office and the Applied English Teaching and Research Office, jointly embarked on a training tour for cultural and creative designers in Trinidad and Tobago called "Crossing Mountains and Seas, Connecting Hearts Through Art".
The training was diverse and comprehensive, covering Chinese tourism culture, Chinese opera culture, Chinese cuisine culture, intangible cultural heritage and tourism creative products, tourism new media marketing, and customized travel planning. The foreign friends were deeply immersed in the classroom, absorbing knowledge and actively interacting with the lecturers, showing great interest and enthusiasm for the charm of Chinese culture.
In on-site teaching, there were countless interesting interactive moments. When they arrived at Penglai Pavilion, a foreign friend gestured towards the ancient building and excitedly described his imagination to his companions, as if she had traveled back to ancient times. At Yantai Mountain, they were attracted by the beautiful natural scenery and picked up cameras to record the beautiful mountain and sea scenery. In Chaoyang Street and Suocheng City, foreign friends curiously walked into a traditional handicraft shop, enthusiastically communicated with the shop owner, learned about the production process of handicrafts, and occasionally exclaimed in amazement.
At the Yantai Intangible Cultural Heritage Handmade Museum, they are amazed by the dazzling array of exquisite Chinese handicrafts. In order to ensure the comfort of foreign friends' lives, the college has also equipped a student volunteer service team to fully meet their living needs. During the training, foreign friends not only learned much knowledge and skills, but also felt the warmth and friendliness of the Chinese people. This training is really great! We not only gained a deep understanding of the vast and profound Chinese culture, the splendid regional culture of Yantai, but also deeply felt the friendliness and enthusiasm of our teachers and students, "said a foreign friend excitedly. China's tourism culture, opera culture, and food culture are all very charming. We will definitely bring back these wonderful experiences and share them with more people. "Another foreign friend was also deeply moved.
The "Crossing Mountains and Seas, Connecting Hearts Through Art" special training for cultural and creative designers not only promoted the exchange and integration, but also further deepened the friendship between the Chinese and the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Through the practical promotion of cultural tourism projects, we have made efforts and contributions to the construction of high-level Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Educational Projects, the creation of a new highland for the opening up of higher vocational education to the outside world, and the comprehensive improvement of the internationalization development level of Shandong Business Institute.
