Recently, the 2023 Shandong Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition in the "Tour Guide Service" category opened in Qingdao. This competition was hosted by Shandong Provincial Department of Education, Shandong Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, Shandong Provincial Department of Finance, Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and Shandong Provincial Department of Agriculture. Forty-two vocational colleges from the province participated in the competition. Zhang Wenqing, a student from the Tourism Management major of our School of Cultural Tourism, won the second prize.
The competition content includes five parts: tour knowledge test, on-site tour speech creation and explanation, selected scenic spot tour speech explanation, tour English oral test, and talent application. It has become an important stage for students majoring in tourism management to compete skills and show achievements.
The Shandong Provincial Vocational College Skills Competition in the "Tour Guide Service" category is currently the most authoritative skills competition platform in the field of tourism vocational education in Shandong Province, and it is also an important window to evaluate the development level of various colleges' tourism vocational education. Our school's Tourism Management major has won first prizes and second prizes in the provincial competition for many years since 2016, which fully demonstrates the high-quality achievements of tourism management in talent cultivation, tests the collaboration ability and professional skills of the teacher team, and is of great significance in promoting talent cultivation and major construction in tourism management.
