To gain an in-depth understanding of the work conditions of the Ph.D. community in the university's development, strengthen the talent team building, and enhance the quality of education and scientific research, our university held a symposium for Ph.D. representatives on the afternoon of April 7 in the conference room on the first floor of the administrative building. Members of the university leadership, Ph.D. representatives from various schools and departments, and relevant personnel from the Teacher Development Center attended the meeting. The symposium was chaired by Vice President Yu Xiangxing, a member of the university's Party Committee.
University leader Sun Yunmao introduced the current situation of Ph.D. talent recruitment and outlined clear expectations for the role and direction of the Ph.D. community in the university's development. Sun Yunmao emphasized that as high-level professionals, Ph.D. holders play a crucial role in elevating the research awareness of the faculty and stimulating innovation in scientific research. He urged the Ph.D. community to deeply engage in vocational education by integrating cutting-edge concepts and technologies into teaching and program development, thereby leading the way in teaching reform and disciplinary advancement. Additionally, he encouraged them to leverage their expertise to guide students in vocational skills competitions, foster a strong work ethic, and enhance students' employability. Furthermore, he called on Ph.D. holders to actively participate in teaching reform initiatives such as textbook compilation and industry-academia collaboration, translating academic research into practical productivity to strengthen the university's social service capabilities and inject new vitality into the integration of industry and education.
University President Wang Faming fully acknowledged the leading role of the Ph.D. community in program development and scientific research since joining the university. He expressed hope that they would continue to leverage their research strengths to propel the university's scientific research to new heights. He encouraged them to incorporate the latest industry trends and technologies into curriculum and program development to enhance students' competitiveness in the job market. Moreover, he urged them to introduce advanced knowledge into student skills competitions to help students achieve outstanding results. President Wang also encouraged the Ph.D. community to aim for national-level teaching and research achievements, striving for breakthroughs in projects to bring more honors to the university.
